The story is from sonagacchi, a red light area in Kolkata. Where ser worker's daughters have created kolkata's first women's football team ' AMRA PADATIK'. These girls belong to a community which society does not accept easily. In india there are so many restrictions on girls so there is no easy way for a girl child to achieve something in this conservative society, But the situation for sonagacchi natives was more abysmal due to their mother's occupation. A sex worker's child always struggles with this stigma.
This great initiative taken by Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee whose mission is to enhance a process of social and political change with an objective to establish, promote and strengthen the rights, dignity, social status and improvement of the quality of life all sex workers communities. Durbar wishes to integrate the sex workers movement with the broader global movement to establish rights of all marginalized communities.
According to smarajit jana, chief advisor of Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee, the idea of forming a team came from the young ones themselves. " There was a lot of enthusiasm among these children about the world cup. I would regularly get calls from some of the girls, who later came to me and said they wanted to play football. But they were shy and afraid at the same time, worrying what people would say. There is a lot of conscience in our society which gives rise to various differences and discriminations. So, I thought this is perhaps the best time to break the notion that football can only be played by boys,".
It is necessary for the promotion of any country that people can grow from each and every community irrespective of their caste, religion, living standard, e.t.c These girls of sonagacchi will do the work of inspiration for all those who come under the pressure of society and withdraw their desires.
